How Much Does a Roof Cost in Calgary?

There is no single answer, because no two Calgary roofs are the same size or the same shape. What we can tell you is exactly what moves the number, and how to get a price for your own house in about thirty seconds.

What sets the price

A roof replacement is priced per roofing square, which is one hundred square feet of roof surface. Four things decide the total:

• Roof area. A bungalow and a two-storey home with the same floor space can have very different roofs, because the bungalow spreads its roof over a bigger footprint.
• Pitch. Steeper roofs take longer and need more safety setup, so the rate per square rises in steps above a walkable pitch.
• Material. A standard laminated shingle is the base. Impact-resistant, designer and metal options cost more per square.
• Extras. A detached garage adds its own squares. Rotten plywood beyond what the base price includes is a per-sheet line item.

What a replacement includes

Our base price for a standard replacement covers IKO Cambridge shingles, tearing off the old roof, disposal and waste, everything needed to finish the job, and plywood replacement up to two squares, about six sheets. Prices are plus GST. Every roofing job carries our fifteen-year workmanship warranty, and the shingle manufacturer warranty is separate.

A table of typical costs by house size is a guess about your roof. It is usually wrong in one direction or the other, and it goes out of date as material prices move. From estimate to final price

The range is an estimate, not a quote. A free on-site inspection confirms the measurements, checks the decking and flashing, and sets the final price in writing before you decide anything. Most replacements are then done within a week of the start date.
